How it works

The Ontario Building Officials Association reimburses board members for reasonable expenses incurred to attend the five meetings each year.

Board Meetings are typically held near the OBOA Head Office.

All work and time is donated by the Board members and the municipality they are employed with. Each director serves for a two-year period and may be assigned to Chair at least one or more of the many committees that help the OBOA meet its objectives set out in the Strategic Plan.

Any government member in good standing is eligible to run for the office of Director. Other restrictions apply for the position of President.

All nomination forms must be accompanied by the nominee’s Curriculum Vitae stating the objectives for seeking office and a letter confirming municipal support for holding office, if elected, from the nominee’s Clerk, Senior Administrator or Council.

New positions

OBOA Board of Directors is calling for an expression of interest for all members who would like to be considered for two newly created positions on the Board of Directors.

  • Director at Large (1 position)
  • Director Building Administration Chapter (1 position)
  •

The appointment for the Director at Large is expected to commence early 2025 and will be up for nomination for a 2-year term prior to the 2025 AGM.

The Director Building Administration Chapter appointment is expected to commence early 2025 and will be up for nomination for a 2-year term prior to the 2026 AGM.

Expressions of interest for either the Director at Large should come from government members in good standing and the Director Building Administration Chapter must be members in good standing who are a part of the Building Administration Chapter. If no suitable individual for the Director Building Administration Chapter expresses interest, the board may appoint an additional Director at Large to fill the position.

To submit an expression of interest, please send your Curriculum Vitae (CV) stating your objectives for seeking office and a letter confirming municipal support from your Clerk, Senior Administrator or Council to the attention of the Chief Executive Officer Lawrence Wagner by Friday December 20, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
