Governed by a 14-member volunteer Board of Directors, the OBOA is a self-governing not-for-profit professional association for Ontario’s Building Officials. Guided by the OBOA Strategic Plan, we are committed to maintaining the highest degree of professionalism in building code enforcement and building safety, promoting uniform code interpretation, building code certification and training.

How it works
The Ontario Building Officials Association reimburses board members for reasonable expenses incurred to attend the five meetings each year. Board Meetings are typically held near the OBOA Head Office. All work and time is donated by the Board members and the municipality they are employed with. Each director serves for a two-year period and may be assigned to Chair at least one or more of the many committees that help the OBOA meet its objectives set out in the Strategic Plan. Any government member in good standing is eligible to run for the office of Director. Other restrictions apply for the position of President. All nomination forms must be accompanied by the nominee’s Curriculum Vitae stating the objectives for seeking office and a letter confirming municipal support for holding office, if elected, from the nominee’s Clerk, Senior Administrator or Council.
