Charles Bray, CBCO

Charles Bray is a graduate of Algonquin College’s Architectural Technologist Program in 1996 and has over twenty-five years of professional experience in the construction and building industry. In 1999, Charles began his career as a Building Official in Eastern Ontario and has worked with a few municipalities over the years. Most recently, Charles accepted the role of Chief Building Official and Manager of the Building & By-Law Division for the City of Cornwall in which he manages a staff of over twenty.
Charles joined the Golden Triangle Chapter early in his career and has held the positions of Deputy Chair and Chair. In his roles, he has helped organize many Chapter meetings and technical sessions, as well as hosting numerous training courses throughout Eastern Ontario. As the son of a retired teacher, Charles has always valued education and encourages colleagues to network and participate in professional development training opportunities as they arise. Having professionally benefited from the training and certifications provided by the OBOA, Charles supports the CBCO designation as “The Step Above” and strongly encourages those joining the industry to join the OBOA and benefit from their advanced and quality training.
In his spare time, Charles enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his three children, the oldest of whom will be attending university to pursue a career in education. Charles is also a member of the Board of Directors with the Cornwall Habitat for Humanity affiliate and has participated in “Build Days” over the years along with his Building Services staff. Charles currently holds the position of Secretary-Treasurer with the OBOA and enjoys contributing to the ongoing training of new and future Building Officials.
